JO BIRD
Although a Londoner, I migrated to Yorkshire in my mid 20s and haven’t looked back since! I’m now living in Hebden Bridge which is a great little town and is in the heart of the South Pennines with the Pennine Way and Calderdale Way running right by. I feel so lucky to have wild and beautiful countryside on my doorstep, with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales, the Lakes and all the other wonderful places for walking in the north.
I love travel too, rucksack on my back, and always try to walk wherever I visit as it’s such a great way to see a place close-up and meet new people. I’ve been lucky to have great trips away, the highlights being in Nepal and Peru, and recently the Tour Mont Blanc.
And then I love maps and planning walks, and creating fun and interesting days out for myself and others.
Hebden Bridge is famous for it’s funky vibe and small independent shops and it’s a great base for holidays and short breaks. I have worked as a freelance guide since 2014, and my regular trips have been to Isle of Arran, Guernsey, the Yorkshire Dales and the 3 peaks, the Yorkshire Moors and Coast, the Lakes, North Wales, and long distance treks such as the Hadrian’s Wall Trek.
